Welcome (2025) - Review
Bobby LePire (filmthreat.com)

"Welcome is writer-director Jevon Boreland’s feature-length debut. The thriller stars Shailene Garnett and Emidio Lopes as Sasha and Darren, respectively. The couple is happy together, though their devotion to their careers means they sometimes talk past each other. However, the news of Sasha’s pregnancy gets them both giddy with excitement to the point where Darren books a getaway at a very lovely manor.

Garnett is radiant, making every decision, even hurtful ones, seem like the right one. Lopes makes Darren’s anxious but friendly demeanor quite natural. Kabongo is so charming it’s easy to understand how and why Sasha and Darren would be pulled into his orbit at first. Goldie amps the dread and mystery up well with the enticing and beguilling ways."

Welcome (2025) -- A Tense, Thought-Provoking Thriller That Finds Strength in Shades of Grey
Surgeons of Horror (surgeonsofhorror.com)

"Jevon Boreland's Welcome arrives as a psychological thriller that thrives on ambiguity, moral complexity, and unsettling tension. While its modest budget is apparent at times, strong performances, well-crafted cinematography, and an antagonist with unexpected depth elevate the experience beyond the usual home-invasion fare.

The film follows expectant parents Darren (Emidio Lopes) and Sasha (Shailene Garnett), who set out for a romantic getaway in the countryside, only to find their retreat disrupted by their overly attentive landlord Eric (Emmanuel Kabongo) and his unsettling wife Millie (Brianna Goldie).

What begins as an awkward intrusion soon spirals into something far more sinister, as paranoia and hidden motives turn their weekend into a nightmare."

Welcome (2025) - Review
Mike Haberfelner (searchmytrash.com)

"Sasha's (Shailene Garnett) pregnant and also overworked as of late, so her boyfriend (and her unborn's father) Darren (Emidio Lopes) decides to whisk her away for a weekend to a cabin deep in the middle of nowhere, far away from any cellphone signal let alone wifi, for a couple relaxation - oh, and romance, since he wants to propose to her.

Thing is, as nice as the place is, the warm water doesn't work, and when Darren calls the place's actual owner, Eric (Emmanuel Kabongo), who fixes the problem in a matter of minutes, he sees himself almost forced to invite him and his girlfriend Millie (Brianna Goldie) for dinner."
